Atrai big river, Atrai small river, Nagar, Baranai, Nandakuza and Mud river. Atrai river flows through Western Bengal and northern Bangladesh. In the past, this river was called the name and it is mentioned in Mahabharata. It has connections with the Karatoya river. Its origin is in West Bengal and it flows through Dinajpur district of Bangladesh and has again entered India. [1] It has entered Bangladesh again through the districts of Kumarganj and Balurghat in southern Dinajpur district. In Dinajpur district, the river is divided into two rivers named Gobra and Kankara. [2] It crosses the Varendra land and flows through the Chalan Beel. [1] The river is suitable for fishing for twelve months. Although during the monsoon, the river often floods many areas. The total length of the river is approximately 240 miles (390 km). Its highest depth is 99 feet (30 meters).
